THE GIFT OF LIFE PROGRAM, which began in 1975, is today a worldwide Rotary International Service Program. Its primary purpose is to help those needy children who require corrective heart surgery secure another lease on life through the miracle of open-heart surgery in a Gift of Life Participating Hospital. In India this program started in 2002. Gift of Life Delhi, NCR chapter was started about a year back, since then over 60 surgeries have already been performed.

Rtn. Sushil Gupta, a major donor to The Rotary Foundation and leading force behind this programme has been awarded Padma Shri by the President of India for Distinguished Service to the Tourism Industry and Social Work.
